Fitness Queen-ing it

Friday I went to the elementary school to visit with Carol and the kids. I've missed them so much! My friend Julie brought me so she could visit with her old class too. We both got a warm welcome and we split up to chat and hang out with the kiddos. One of the paras that works in both rooms came in and greeted me. She mentioned that Julie had told her of my new nickname and thought it was great that I had so much time now to work out! It has been an amazing gift to be able to work out and exercise so much. One of the nice things is that I'm working out for the peace and stress-release and not solely to lose weight. I'm not even weighing myself and am trying to focus on how I feel rather than what I look like.
I've made it up to 2.5 miles now when I run and hope to get up to 3 miles either this week or next. I run about 5 mph. I'm not sure since I haven't bought anything to help me keep track of that sort of thing, so I keep track on my ipod. I have to go about 9 laps in 12 minutes so as I run I keep track of how much time I have left. The only problem is, its not a very consistent way so I probably run one lap faster than the next.  At least it all averages out to being about 5 mph ; )
I have to be careful though, last Monday I ended up hurting my knee (combination of running more and faster?) and had to sit out my walking class and swimming on Tuesday. It was strange though, on Wednesday I was completely fine. I did take the day off of running though. I can't miss too many of my actual gym classes. I want to get good grades!
My swimming class has been going really well and it has become a joke that I am the oldest one in the class, taking the most gym classes and with the most energy. We just learned the breast stroke and I learned that I am the only one that hasn't ever taken official swim lessons. Still I mastered the breast stroke in 4 lengths of the pool and had my teacher amazed and proud of me. It is such an odd stroke! Your arms and legs go at opposite times which is different than the other strokes we've learned. It is an amazing workout though and I'm hoping that I'll be able to use all 4 strokes to get a great workout. I need to work on the flip turns though ; )

I have to exhale really hard while doing a flip turn so I don't suck in the water. Yuck.

Good luck! Sounds like things are really coming along. Way to go!
