Houdini

So this week I've been trying to tire Maple out. It seems that every time I would go check on them, Sam would be sleeping and Maple would be sitting up, looking all about. I knew Maple knew how to bust out of the kennel (as new as it is, she has seemed to have figured out the latches on the door) and didn't want her to have enough energy to do this again. Today I let the dogs play in the dog park for an hour with a 10 minute structured walk to and from the park, then I roller-bladed with Maple for 15 minutes around the neighborhood of the family that I work for. 3 hours after I start work, as I'm sitting down to eat some lunch with the mom, I see Maple trot across the deck to the door. Quickly I get to the door and call for her to come in. Luckily she was very interested in where I was all the time and accepted the invitation. I quickly grabbed her collar before she could change her mind and marched her to the car. I may have to resort to zip-tying the kennel door closed every day...

Good luck with the dogs. That "Dog Whisperer" guy is good. We have used several things that we learned from his show to help with Pippy. We need to get back into a routine with her... unfortunately Lindsay is SWAMPED so I think it'll have to wait until I get home.

Yeah its been going better. The dogs at least know that I'm the boss. Dan doesn't care as much but of course they can't pull him as easily as they can me ; )
