Has it really been more than a month since I last wrote? Things have been as crazy as ever. Let me skim through some of the excitement that I've been going through:
1. The family that I was staying with decided that they didn't like having Maple there; decided to call the Humane Society to see how I could give her up; told me Maple deserved someone better than me; then told me that I needed to be moved out ASAP along with Maple.
2. I decided that I needed to eat more than just pasta and would like to be able to visit people sometimes, so I have decided to get roommates! They move in this weekend. They are an awesome Deaf couple. Well...I should actually say hard-of-hearing couple. But they are part of the Deaf community and the gal, Sara, and I have been friends for 2 years now. She is one of the women I have girls-night-out with. I'm excited to have help financially yet will miss my newfound freedom that comes with living by myself.
3. Student teaching has been going awesome yet crazy. The semester is actually coming to a close as far as student teaching is concerned and the week after next I start my solo-teaching. I'll be running the classroom completely for 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. I'm excited yet nervous. The teaching won't be too bad since I've been taking over more and more of the routines as the semester has been progressing. Most of the day is run by me except for a couple of lessons and planning out what will happen each day. My mentor teacher will be in and out of the classroom for parts of the day to help with various tasks but the rule is that I get to tell her what to do and I'm supposed to plan out her lessons also. Should be a hectic next few weeks as I get that underway.
4. Jasper has returned back to me!! (While I was with the family he stayed at the apt with Dan) He's loving having me back and has kept me amused with his antics. One of the best stories I have of him is from the mornings. I'll turn on the water for the shower and Jasper will come over and want to be petted. I'll pet him for a little bit and then go to step into the shower. As he sees me stepping in, he rushes over and swats at me or tries to nip at me. I seriously think he's trying to protect me from getting wet. He's done this since he was little. I find it amusing and a good source of adrenaline first thing in the morning as I try to jump into the shower without getting attacked.
5. Dan has been trying to get me back...he left me flowers one day and then last week asked me to go to dinner with him. I told him I've moved on...
Anywho...that's my update as of today! Time to go do more planning!
