The Fitness Queen Returns

The past few weeks have been really hectic so I haven't been able to do my usual workouts. Because of spring break I even missed the workouts I'm usually required to do. Yesterday started me back into the swing of things. In my walking for fitness class we worked on endurance. I learned some very important things in that class yesterday. Skipping all out sucks! You would think that skipping would be a breeze, a nice break from power walking. Yeah, not so much! My heart rate maxed at 195 while skipping! I felt like my heart was going to explode and my chest was on fire. I did 2 laps of skipping and luckily the teacher called it quits. I was so exhausted from class that I had to force myself to eat a snack before swimming (I'm always worried that without enough calories in my body I will drown in swimming class, too weak to swim to the side).

As I was sitting waiting for swimming to start I sincerely started hoping that today would be an easier day in swimming. No such luck. The teacher informed us that today would be a day of testing our endurance and seeing how many laps we could do in 15 minutes. Yay... And of course this test would be taking place after doing some drills. I enjoyed doing the test though I could barely move after getting done. And my chest felt that it was on fire. My lungs felt stretched out and worn and my heart hurt a little bit from the exertion. Definitely was a day full of working out!

Today was BEAUTIFUL. I didn't want to let it go to waste and I decided that I would run home from campus, literally. My friend stored my bag for me in her dorm room and after tutoring I made the trek home. I'm not sure how far I ran but I know definitely that from downtown Burlington to my apt is 3 miles and I ran at least a half a mile to get to the bike path on the Waterfront. So my best guess is 3.5 miles though I did run past my road 4 or 5 blocks (I can't see the main road from the bike path and forgot which road I needed to turn onto to get back home). I arrived home feeling that I really accomplished something and VERY tired. My feet are a bit sore and I've found some new blisters but my body feels SO good. I love the feeling from a good workout! I'm sure to sleep well tonight that's for sure!
