I am officially on Spring Break. Though technically I started on Friday, nothing felt that different over the weekend. I'm at my second home in Brattleboro and doing what we usually do. The difference hit me last night that instead of rushing around packing, and then driving to meet up with my friend Julie, I was making gingerbread cookies with Kayla.
Its been pretty warm here the past couple of weeks and the road that Will lives on has become a mud road. And then just this weekend has turned into a mud road-with-ruts-in-it-that-would-take-out-the-bottom-of-anything-that-isn't-an-SUV. Last night we witnessed the first of many vehicles to get stuck in the mud. Will went out to help while William, Kayla and I shamelessly hovered around the door and window trying to get a better look at the action. Yes we were "those people" that gawk at other's misfortunes...we could justify it though since people helping were using Will's driveway to park.
Today is even worse. It's snowing outside (I'm wondering if Kayla and I jinxed it by making gingerbread cookies...throwing the seasons off "WOAH, WHAT? Gingerbread cookies, must be winter!") and since the ground isn't frozen anymore, all of that snow is creating a sink pit for even the most hearty of vehicles. I've watched only 4 vehicles come up the road and though I'm not sure if it happens to be a light day of traffic, watching the 4 vehicles come spinning and sliding past the house, I am prone to thinking that those 4 vehicles are only a small portion, the lucky few, who have been able to make it past the first small hill. Even the furnace guy has failed to show up this morning though the mail carrier was one of the 4 that I've seen come by. And that's impressive since they have to stop at all the mailboxes, no running start for them!
