Falling into Place

Last week one of the daycare's that I went into informed me that they were indeed hiring but hadn't advertised yet. I handed over my resume and the director looked it over commenting that they always take good resumes and after a quick glance she told me that mine was amazing. We chatted about the center, the philosophy of the program and my own philosophy, my experiences, and I got a quick tour of the rooms. All of the kids were outside playing or on walks so I didn't meet any of the kids or the teachers but it seemed like a nice place, comfortable and friendly. I was excited to see they document the kids' work. The center is open 50 hours a week and some of the kids are there that full time. It is so important that the parents can know what their children are up to as well as serve as portfolio's for the children when they move up to Kindergarten.

Anywho...after the director and I chatted for 30 minutes or so, she asked me to come back on Tuesday (today) and observe the classes with the kids, meet the teachers and possibly start subbing. I went in today, and made lots of new little friends. Got a chance to talk to some of the teachers (they were kind of busy with the kids) and got a good vibe. After an hour observing the different classes the director and I sat down and chatted. ANNNNNDDDDD after 30 minutes of going over my plans, my goals, my observations, her quick talks with the other teachers that I had met, SHE OFFERED ME A JOB!!!

Yes yes. Amaryah Stinson is now a proud UVM graduate WITH A JOB! The job doesn't start until mid-July. They are opening up a new room at the daycare and so they have to get some things taken care of before I can start but the director knows that I need a job and the money so is giving me subbing opportunities. I start working on Friday and work 8-4. I'll fill out paperwork then. I am SO excited and relieved.
