The escaping dog

We have one kennel and two dogs. Because we've found Maple to be particularly destructive, we decided to put her in the kennel and Sam left free to roam. The first day we tried this, Dan came home at lunch and found Maple free, two plants tipped over, a pee spot on the couch, and poop in the bedroom. The next time we still placed Maple in the kennel but we pushed the kennel door against the wall. This has kept her in her kennel up until the other day. Returning from an afternoon of snowboarding we found Maple out of her kennel, but her collar still in her kennel. We had forgotten to turn the kennel around propping it against the wall but we're still not sure how she managed to get out. We know she found a way to pop a front top corner loose and squeeze out but the most space she had to get out was 5 inches, maybe 6. Maple isn't huge, but isn't a small dog either. And how she got her collar off while in her kennel we have no idea. Dan's thinking of making a kennel that both dogs could go in out of wood. Thick wood.

We are having issues with Daryl right now. Apparently he still thinks that he's a puppy. It's like a treasure hunt. 'What did Daryl get into this time?' Poor Abigail lost a couple of pacifiers and toys to him. At least he's house-broken. Good luck with your kids!
