Good times, good times...

So Dan texts me mid day and informs me that we got a boil water notice on our door. Apparently the roof over the water reservoir collapsed and now needs to be repaired meaning that the water is contaminated and is now considered a "significant health risk". In order to be safe this requires us to boil water for: washing dishes, brushing teeth, cooking, and drinking... including for the animals. Tonight we started the process of boiling water for our needs. It makes me realize how precious water really is. While usually there is a seemingly ample supply for me to use while brushing my teeth, knowing how long it takes the water to both heat up and then cool down enough to use, there is now a limited supply that needs to stretch far enough for all of our needs at the moment. Luckily we do have some water jugs that we can use to store some water in, but for tonight, we focus on having enough for now.
I decided to stay with my teacher when I start my student teaching next fall. I've felt lucky that I've had the opportunity to work with this wonderful woman. She is always asking me if I need something for my lesson, does not put down my ideas and thoughts, and has such a positive spirit that I walk into the classroom and have to smile. I still have to go through my UVM mentor teachers but since I've already spoken to my teacher, I think everything will go smoothly. I should be teaching kindergarten and will get the opportunity to not only see the beginning of a school year, but the beginning of a child's years in public school.
