And the drama continues...

Dan, the dogs and I had a great weekend. We stayed with Tiera, her son Branden, her boyfriend Matt and Tiera's dog Precious. Tiera, Branden, and Matt were excited to see us, Precious wasn't too happy about the other dogs. Anyone who is a dog owner knows how stressful it can be introducing dogs to each other. Especially when the dogs have to be able to get along for an extended amount of time. There was a lot of barking and growling at first, but eventually the dogs were able to be in the same room together and could play outside with each other without too many problems.
After an eventful weekend we hurried home to a worried cat and an apartment still with unusable water. Luckily our hot water is back to working which means I can continue to look presentable and smell good (without dousing myself in perfume). Our pile of dishes hadn't gotten done before we left in the hopes that by the time we returned the water would be usable, but since it wasn't, I decided to bite the bullet and do the dishes. I learned that its a slow process when you don't have running water. Since our sink doesn't have a stopper, I had to pour water into a big bowl with soap and use that. I learned that our kitchen really wasn't made, space wise, for people to wash dishes by hand. The bowl I used had to be on the counter, which meant the dishes needed to be in the sink, and the clean dishes placed on the other counter to dry. Not the most efficient working space. I gave up for tonight after heating up 4 kettles full of water and using them. Tomorrow I may try to smuggle some dishes into the house where I babysit and wash them there.
One of the nicest things about being away was returning to my own place and my own bed. I think you appreciate what you have the most when you go away for a short time. My cat definitely was ecstatic when we arrived home. He couldn't get enough petting and attention. I think that he even started chewing on plastic just so we could reprimand him, making him feel that things were back to normal. Here's to getting back to normal...and the hope that the water dilemma will soon be taken care of...
