After my classes I still needed to go pick up school supplies, food shop, and go to the pet store. I arrived home tired, hungry, exhausted and needed to do homework. Dan made some dinner while I procrastinated doing my homework (thanks Micah!). I'm so happy he knows how and is so willing to cook! It was a quick, easy dinner because of the lateness of my arrival, but it filled the need to eat.
At the pet store I had bought the dogs big rawhide bones and we decided to give the dogs one each while we were eating. They are so funny with them! We've given them smaller pieces of rawhide and Sam gobbles them up, and Maple takes her time. Maybe these bones are too big for them to get a part, or maybe they are so proud of them, they are spending more time and energy on keeping them safe that they haven't spent a lot of time eating them. Last night Maple was especially paranoid that the cat would steal her bone. The funniest part is, they will leave the bone on the floor and lay a bit away from it. If the other dog starts getting close, or just looks interestingly at it, the dog will start growling. We've been scolding them at this, we want them to share with other dogs, but on the other hand, we want to be sure that Sam (Maple seems to already have this skill) realizes that growling means to stop whatever she's doing and go do something else. Sam will continue staring at the bone, and in other cases has continued trying to jump on another dog. Not something that we want to become a habit. We have pictures but I can't find my camera cord...I'll keep hunting and post them later.
