I really like my political science teacher already. He's pretty blunt and makes fun of everyone for everything. It should be an interesting semester. One of the things he told us was that we should never go along with the group just for the sake of going with the group. I liked our conversation today. He asked if we could fix anything in the world that was actually humanly possible to fix, what would it be? Instead of just allowing students to flat out answer, he would often ridicule their behavior, I think in order to fire them up and get them to passionately describe why they think their answer was such a problem. Of course it was kind of amusing when he asked why domestic abuse was such a problem ("its good to slap each other around a bit"). But it was also a chance to see the attitudes of the other students in the room. Some of the answers would only be serving a small handful of people or even just Americans in general. The teacher was a bit dumbfounded especially when someone said that they would stop the abuse of the unemployment...anything in the world to fix besides getting rid of hate and that's what you would use your gift on.
My math teacher is pretty typical of the education staff. Very sweet, nice and doesn't want to stress us out. She actually said that if we just didn't want to buy the textbook than we could just use the one on reserve in the library. Big difference from my political science teacher who told us he hates when he gets emails asking when we can meet: "ITS ON THE SYLLABUS!!!"
I was done by 10:20 this morning! Bought my textbooks, got my notebooks and was home for lunch! I think I can get used to this schedule : ) I even finished my homework already since I got bored this afternoon. *gasp* Might I actually finish my homework in a timely manner? Don't tell anyone ; )
